Chapter 6.2-Data Warehouse Fundamentals{0}
Chapter 6.2 Discusses Data Warehousing fundamentals; what it is and how they are used. The article I read was about Asset Intelligence (AI) aquiering Teradata’s platform. AI has based its new enterprise analytics service on a Teradata Data Warehouse appliance platform. They will be using this to better help “over-the-road” freight carriers, by eliminating blind spots in their operations and to optimize productivity and performance. AI uses a telemetric-based solution for tracking and managing fleets of trailers and containers through its own VeriWise system. This system helps them utilize and maintain optimization to trim down fuel costs, help with security issues and to reduce operating costs for both shippers and suppliers. By them incorporating Teradata into the works, they are able to make things more efficient. Teradata focuses on raising intelligence and agility through its database software, enterprise data warehousing, data warehousing appliances, consulting and enterprise analytics.
Raju Kakarlapudi, chief information officer of I.D. Systems, said, “With the addition of a data warehouse powered by the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance platform, we can deliver a faster, more intelligent analysis of data, enabling our customers to react more quickly to real-time developments in the status and condition of their assets.”
After reading the article I went into Teradata’s website to look into more of what they do. Teradata is an enterprise data warehousing and enterprise analytic company that helps companies with their own challenges within their own industries. Teradata is helping companies create faster, better decisions and enhancing their customer’s relationships while boosting thier bottom-line profits. They have helped several known companies with their system, such as Applebee’s (with their menus and labor), Navistar (superior choices for migration paths), eBay (conquer its complexity) and the list goes on.
I feel data warehousing seems to be the wave of the future for most companies. It is a great tool for compiling and storing data for companies to use in the present and future for the benefit of their companies to use analytical decisions.
