The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act(CISPA) is going in be a very important piece of legislation since the Digital Millennium Act if it past the congress. CISPA essentially allow corporations and US government to share data about any cyber threats. In other words company can free share user information if it change thwart cyber threats. Using it broad term to describe what is a cyber threats, companies can use this propose Act, to shutdown harmless sites such as wiki leaks, rumors sites, and  complaints sites. The potential problem with this Act is that it trump all other privacy protection. It supersedes your web companies privacy policies, wiretaps laws, medical record or any other statues protection.

It important for our class to learn how to defend our site on the web. As we learning how you create and push our own information into the internet, we as need to be about to protect ourselves. Learning about the future of this Act can greatly impact us as future web designer. It can limited our creativity by permitting private corporation/ government to shut down our site if they happen to deem the site as a threat.

I found this is be very informative about our bleak future on the web. It seem like every other week there a propose legislation to limited or prevent certain feature of the web. By been inform of all these upcoming legislation, we can protect our web from corporate control.

  1. I agree with you. It is unfortunate that the government is always trying to gain control over the internet. Ever since SOPA was announced, the internet is no longer the same as it once was. People are now scared and hesitate about what they want to put on the web.

  2. This is a great article showing the amount of emphasis governments are putting into IT related subjects. Rules, regulations, even the consumer privacy bill of rights addressed issues concerning online privacy. CISPA is going to allow/require companies to share user information with “Uncle Sam.” The question is how much information do you want to allow the government to know about you – all in the name of national security.
