This last Thursday, political officials and industry experts met in Washington, D.C. to discuss topics related to cloud computing and potential risks that the new technology could introduce. Cloud Computing is where data is stored on a server that can then be access via a network such as the internet. Therefore, you can be anywhere in the world and as long as you have an active internet connection, you will be able to access your data. The technology is still considered to be in its infancy stages and like all new technologies, there are many defects that have yet to be exploited by attackers. What the big concern was homeland security and ensuring that government documents and information could be stored on a cloud computer and know that the data is secure. Many of those in favor of this change, argue that the data will be on a secure server and that cloud computing can cut costs in time. read more...
